Workshop 2 - Lenses and Accessories

The Photography Society held it's second workshop yesterday evening. It focused on lenses and accessories. By learning and understanding the equipment it allows us all, as photographers, to become better. During the workshop we looked at all the competition entries for the 'Autumn theme' competition. We went through as a group and said what we liked about the images, but, also how they may have been improved. By analysing photographs it allows us to think more in-depth when taking our own images. 

The competition winner for October is Ryan Nicholson. Well done on his early rowing session image!

The competition theme for this month is 'Time'. It's quite an obscure theme, so we're expecting to see lots of imagination!

Halloween Party

Photography Society are pleased to announce an After Halloween Party which is going to take place in Fusion, on the 1st of November, 10pm - 2pm.

Good music (DJ AMEX), lots of fun and an unforgettable night is to be expected. Don't forget to dress up as crazy as you want, but if you do not want to wear any costumes, you are still more than welcome. 

The most frightening costume will win a special prize at 12 o'clock midnight. 

All the money raised will be given to charity - Movember month (prostate and testicular cancer support) - RAG

Secretary

Say hello to our new secretary, Alex (Left).

Election.

On Tuesday we had our election for the position of secretary. We had two candidates running for the position; Alex and Dan. Congratulations to Alex on joining the executive team and commiserations to Dan for his efforts! With the team growing we should see a new level of organisation which in turn, will improve the events run by the Society.

So shout out to our new secretary if you see her!

The social initially started at Haworth Arms, but we soon realised there was not enough space in there for all of us! We moved on to The Gardeners Arms for a few drinks. After there we moved on to somewhere a little cheaper (Fish-bowl), where you could get 'blow jobs' and 'wet pussies' for £1! Needless to say these are shots, and probably not what you initially thought - you dirty so and so's. 

After Fish-bowl we walked to [W]elly... in the rain. Member's spirit began to fall but morale was soon restored when we entered [W]. 

In the end it was a pretty epic night, I hope you enjoyed the photos as much as I did.

Fresher's stall

Well, what a fantastic day for the Photography Society, a total of 143 members signed up today at the fresher's stall. The team also had a number of approaches about some freelance photography, not to mention an interview! We're looking forward to a manic time this year, you can expect workshops, trips, socials and much more.

Hello everyone! I hope you are all well and are having a great summer!

Here at the photography society we have been putting together a number of things for you guys to do throughout the course of the year. I'm talking about workshops, trips, competitions and much more! The workshops will start of with the basics and gradually get more advanced throughout the year.

In regards to the trips, we are looking at locations such as York, London and much more! Please don't hesitate to drop in some requests for areas of interest. 

The society will be having their own unique t-shirts this year, you will be able to order these after joining up! 

So guys, look out for us at the fresher's fayre! We may not have the biggest table in the tent but we will do our best to get your attention!

Welcome!

Hello everyone, the University of Hull's Photography Society welcomes you. This is the first year we have chosen to set up a blog to see how it works out. The Photography Society will be present at the Freshers Fayre so make sure you find us and sign up! We have big plans for this year including a whole new system of running the Photography Society. Meetings and workshops will run on a more frequent basis and trips are also to follow. Furthermore, we are aiming to hold an exhibition at the end of the year to display members work and achievements from the course of the year.
